Russia is preparing to vaccinate a large part of the population next October. The country’s government has provided such information. Russia’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Denis Manturov told the country’s Tas news agency on Monday that they expect to make several million ticker doses per month by 2021.
According to AFP and CNBC, the country’s health minister, Mikhail Murasco, said clinical trials of the coronavirus vaccine had ended at the Moscow-based Gamelia Institute. Russia’s state-run news agency RIA Novosti reported on Saturday that Moscow had claimed the test had met with “no side effects”.
Russia’s Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) is financing the trial. An RDIF spokesman told CNBC yesterday that Russia had completed the initial phase of the clinical test. This month, Russia will begin another phase of large-scale testing. This step of clinical research will prove how effective the vaccine is.
However, the World Health Organization has not commented on this. Data on Russia’s second- or third-stage clinical trials have not been listed by the World Health Organization.
Russia’s health minister, Murasko, said the vaccine needed regular approval before it could be used. Physicians and teachers will be vaccinated first. There are plans to give the vaccine to the masses in October.
The head of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said he hoped the formal registration of the vaccine would be completed within 10 days. If the work is completed within 10 days, this will be the first registered coronavirus vaccine.

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murasko said on Saturday that clinical trials of the vaccine were underway at the Siberian-based Vektor Laboratory. Two more vaccines will be studied in the next two months.
